I mentioned a prayer exercise last Sunday in the online service that I didn’t say in the in-person service. It is a Franciscan exercise where, in your prayer, you look at a tree that represents you now. You talk to God about how that tree is like you spiritually. Then you see a tree that represents where you want to be spiritually and talk to God about that. I used the exercise recently for the first time and found it helpful. Try it out.
I hope you were able to find time to spend an hour with God this week. As soon as I finish this, I am heading to the Appalachian Trail to spend my time. My training with Mission Alive and my Spiritual Direction training introduced me to taking time like this and it has been a lifesaver for me. This is the kind of thing that never just happens, you have to purposefully do it. Let me encourage you to try it out.
Have a great weekend.
