In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.   9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience.            –1 Timothy 3.8-9

Dave Velten became a Christian at the age of 21 in the Mill St. church of Christ at Cassville, Missouri. He attended there for over 27 years and served as a Deacon there for over a decade until he transferred to Virginia in 2003 to manage the East Coast facility Operations for EFCO Corporation. He completed Management training courses at Southwest Missouri State University in 1978, Data Processing course at Missouri Southern State University in 1981 and has a certificate of achievement to Numeric Micro in Dallas, Texas. He has taken a course in Front Line leadership and training in Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. He is currently certified in CPR and AED. He oversees Kitchen Supplies, Patch and Paint of the interior of the building. He assists with the Worship and building safety duties. He has been married to Marsha for 40 years and they have two grown sons, Jeremy and Justin, one precious daughter in law Laura and two grandchildren, Sadie and Hayden. Romans 1:16 and John 3:16 speak to him because they remind him that God is real and that there is the promise of eternal life with him, if we believe. He also likes Psalm 23:4, Jeremiah 29:11 because they challenge him to walk in faith, not fear, because God has a plan for our future. “As the Deer pants for the water,” “There is a God,” and “How Great is our God” make him stop and think we are here only for a short time and there is a better place awaiting!!! Dave works hard at servant leadership and enjoys helping others achieve their goals. In his spare time, he loves participating in all shotgun sports, shooting pistols, and riding his motorcycle. His favorite movies include: Forrest Gump, Christmas Lampoon Vacation and Cars.
