Come From Away

The population of Waynesboro in 2019 was 22,140.  Imagine if 14,000 people suddenly showed up and needed a place to stay for five days.  That is what happened in Gander, Newfoundland Canada on 9-11.  They are an emergency landing spot for airlines, so when the FAA suddenly grounded all flights, 38 flights diverted to Gander, a town of 10,000 people, and 7000 people were suddenly in need of a place to stay and food to eat for five days.  There is a Broadway play about this called Come From Away.  Laura and I are going to see it this weekend in Richmond.  We have heard the play is very good.  We listened to some of it and heard all the Canadian accents, Canadian words, and Canadian humour (Canadian spelling).

Why am I telling you all this?  Because we are taking a weekend off and getting away, just the two of us.  Everyone needs a break every now and then.  Every married couple needs some time away, just the two of them.  We all live in a pressure cooker right now and need a break more than we realize.  Consider this to be me giving you permission.

Have a great weekend.
