Autumn

It’s fall, are you happy? I lived in Canada too long to be a fan of autumn. What it means to me is winter is around the corner. I prefer summer. Nevertheless, I hear people all summer saying they can’t wait for sweater weather and pumpkin spice. The leaves are changing and will soon be gorgeous. My garden is about empty, and I am cleaning it up so it can rest till spring. What does the change of season mean to you? As we work our way through the book of Genesis on Wednesday nights, I realize that the change of the seasons is part of God’s promise to humanity – like the rainbow. When Noah and his family came out of the ark God said this:
“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night
will never cease.”
The rhythms of creation are put there by God and they are reminders to us that the creator is still with us. Jesus is still holding everything together and has not left us as orphans. The cool air is a reminder of all this. Praise God.

Have a great weekend.
